How To

How to make a perfect Omelette

Omelets are one of my favorite foods to eat at breakfast. But how do they turn out so perfectly? I've tried many recipes and different methods but none have worked. So today, I want to share some tips and tricks with you so you can make your own delicious and fluffy omelets every morning.

Before we start making omelets, let's remember that eggs are temperamental. Eggs must be purchased fresh, preferably organic, and kept chilled until ready for cooking. If you don't keep them cold enough, the whites won't form properly, and the yolks will break down too much and become runny. This can make your omelets look bizarrely colored. If you plan to cook the eggs right away, it is best to use room temperature eggs.

Another tip is to separate each egg before adding them to the saucepan. You don't want any white to get mixed up with the yolk because this could cause the omelet to curdle.

The egg can burn if it is placed directly on the stovetop. Instead, microwave the egg for 10 seconds before adding it to the pan. The microwave heat will cook the egg just right without making it too hot.

Let's now talk about mixing eggs. You want to mix the eggs thoroughly before you add them. Turn the bowl upside down and grab the whisk to do this. Then shake the bowl vigorously. By doing this, the egg is thoroughly mixed with the air in the bowl.

Now comes the fun part: adding the milk to your mixture. Pour half the milk into the beaten egg mixture and then fold in the eggs. If you still see streaks of eggs, don't worry. These streaks will disappear once the omelet has been turned over.

After you have folded your eggs, heat up the oil on medium heat. Wait for it to get hot. Once the oil begins to heat, add 1/4 cup butter and swirl the pan to coat it. Next, carefully open the lid and sprinkle salt into your pan. The salt will help to prevent the omelet's sticking to the pan.

Once the omelet has formed completely, cover the pan and let it set for a few minutes. Flip the omelet with a spatula, or flip it upside down. Cook the other half for another minute. Serve the omelet immediately by removing it from the pan.

This recipe works best when you use whole milk.
